Two of children go to Ms. Margrit for music. My 1 year old loves his baby class. He has DS and the socializing is great for him; and he absolutely loves the music and the little instruments he is introduced too. My 8 year old has done piano, violin and voice lessons. Her teachers take musical education to a fun level. She absolutely loves going. Wouldn’t ever consider taking my children any place else. A family friendly environment, and great prices. Thank you Ms. Margrit for the many years of music classes, you’re absolutely one in a million.

Neighborhood Music Studio has been a part of my life since I have been four. Attending music lessons was more then just that, it was coming to a place where I would meet new people, and share in the love of music. Margrit has been a big influence in my life and helped me become the person I am today. She was a teacher, mentor, tutor, friend and now I consider her an extension of my family. The other teachers are amazing and excel in their specialties. Going to music was my happy place to be. Having lessons here taught me what it meant to be a better person, pianist, and discovering who I am. Music has become an outlet for me now, looking back I wish I completed more exams. Going to NMS was one of best parts of my child hood. You wont be disappointed!

My daughter began piano lessons in September of 2022! She absolutely loved her classes with her teacher. She learned so much and her confidence increased as she discovered a new talent. We will definitely continue with neighbourhood music!

Margrit, Sean, Willie & the Neighbourhood Music Studio was a big part of my childhood and helped foster my appreciation for music. Margrit was very patient in dealing with my uncreative excuses of why I couldn't finish my homework and Sean was very kind to drive me home when my parents were out of town. Willie's welcome at the door completed the picture perfect experience every week. I was probably a lousy pianist and student, but Margrit's encouragement and support was a constant source of confidence. In 6 years under her tutelage, she elevated me to RCM lvl 8 from nothing. While I may no longer be able to pull off those 10 minute sonatas by memory, knowing the fact that I was once able to is pretty special. I would highly recommend to give them a try. It's never too early or late to learn music!

This is a wonderful place for kids to learn music. From the patient and well experienced teachers to the owner , my kids have been going here for 3 years now and it’s just awesome!

Both my sons have been going there for couple of years for Piano. They have fantastic teachers and programs are well managed by Ms Margrit. Very professional, everyone is nice, teachers do their best and the quality of the lessons is much better. Highly recommended Neighbourhood Music Studio!

Neighbourhood Music Studio was my second home for 15 years, throughout which I gained not only my Grade 9 RCM certificate but a loyal friend, teacher, and mentor in Margrit. What distinguished her studio to me was that no effort went unrewarded. Margrit encouraged me to "share my music" (where I've found deeper appreciation as an adult) and rewarded me with volunteer opportunities, some of my first jobs, and writing reference letters for my undergrad applications (which helped me secure a Chancellor's Scholarship). I will always be grateful for all the chances and patience she had for me. Margrit knows every student, parent, and teacher by name, and I can't think of a more caring environment to learn. My daughters spent many years with Margrit's Neighbourhood Music Studio and Learning Centre. One daughter in particular had special learning needs and they were certainly met with Margrit and her staff. No only did her music studies help her in elementary school, they helped her socially. Wonderful teachers - very patient and great with kids. My 11 year old son is doing great with one-on-one sessions with an actual rock guitarist, while my 5 year old daughter is enthusiastically learning how to play piano. Margrit, the director of the school, is passionate about teaching children the wonderful world of music. A great place to send your children to learn.

This was our first year with Neighbourhood Music Studio. Our teenage granddaughter wanted to learn the piano partway into the school year and we reached out to NMS to find out if it would be possible. Margrit was very kind in giving us all the details and answered all our questions and was able to fit her into an appropriate piano class time . Our granddaughter loves and respects Ms Esther and was thrilled to be able to attend her first recital. She is looking forward to starting again in September.

Neighbourhood Music Studio was the one and only greatest stepping stone to my music career, and it helped me become successful in the production of my own music today. I took piano for close to 7 years, being taught underneath Margrit and Amanda. The encouragement and patience they had with me really pushed me forward to learn, and also motivate me to become better with music. Their teaching led me to win first place Kiwanis awards and medals. Margrit's music studio has a structured curriculum that will teach you effectively and stay with you forever. Today, I am producing music for artists of all sorts, some of them signed to Warner, and writing my own material weekly. I would have never been able to come this far with music if it weren't for Margrit and the faculty at NMS, so in respect to her and everyone there spreading the knowledge of music, I thank you!!

I took piano lessons from Margrit when I was a child. I progressed quickly in my lessons and Margrit went above and beyond to include me in other aspects of the studio to help me gain additional skills (such as helping out with the younger group classes so my confidence could grow). Margrit became like a second mother to me and I look back and cherish those memories. Learning to play an instrument is a valuable skill, but learning to play it at a studio that truly cares is a whole other experience!

Neighbourhood Music Studio isn’t a place you go once a week for an hour and then carry on with your life—it’s a community of amazing people where every student is valued and taught in a personal, individualized way that becomes a lifelong influence. Some of us need patience and some of us need a push, and Margrit and her staff know exactly how to help students achieve their best while always putting their personal well-being first. Seventeen years later, though I’ve gone off to university and my lessons have come to an end, my experience with NMS is still a part of my daily life. I count Margrit a close personal friend as well as one of my biggest influences and supporters. Despite never feeling like a particularly expressive pianist, my music has become a tool for me to clear my head, to help me mentally reboot when I need to focus, and to dump out frustrations. Reading music is such a different kind of thinking from nearly anything else that even though music isn’t a part of my school or work, it plays a significant role in my productivity by giving me a way to switch mental gears when I’m stuck, an ability that’s useful no matter what field you’re pursuing. I’ve never once doubted whether my time spent learning piano was worthwhile. Even today, the answer continues to be a resounding “Yes!” And I wouldn’t want it to have learned it anywhere else.

This was our first year with Neighbourhood Music Studio and we were very happy with our experience from beginning to end. Margrit was wonderful in answering any questions we had, communicating any necessary changes/updates, or rescheduling of classes. Ana taught piano to both of our kids and they absolutely adored her. The end of year recital was very well organized and focused on the students and their accomplishments. We look forward to starting again in September.
