Families tell us what a difference music lessons can make in building confidence and feelings of independence.  Reading music or playing by ear can be fun and uplifting. We design our private lessons for special needs children and adults for their preferred pace and tailored to their goals.


Our Early Years programs in Music, Art, and Kindergarten Prep are very flexible. Based on the ever-changing requirements of individual learners, adaptions are an ongoing process.  Special education consultations provide learning styles, skills, needs and strengths of special learners. Even students with physical and cognitive impairments can master art skills and concepts with effective instruction.



Classroom integration is vital and numerous strategies are employed for instructional planning for the whole class to enjoy. Curricular, behavioral, environmental, presentation, motivational and organizational methods are followed.  Exploring different teaching methods that involve increased repetition, practice, hands-on exercises and one-on-one attention for enabling the special learners in the classroom the freedom to enjoy the arts in the very best way! Here are some of our goal.

  • Speech and CommunicationSinging is used to isolate speech sounds and gets lots of repetition without monotony…triggers conversation, thoughts, feelings for a normally inarticulate child….helps breathing…music rarely fails to communicate with every child
  • Fine and Gross Motor Using traditional and adaptive percussive instruments, like maracas, shakers, sticks etc. and art crafting to address specific fine and gross motor skills. Music and Art advances developmental skills for cognitive, affective and psychomotor functions…

  • Academic Putting academic information into a song format so that recall is improved. Using the alphabet letters and numbers into the program to encourage the want to learn more… telling a story without reading. Then finding the love and courage to learn to read and learn language

  • Social skill development our groups where children practice greetings, turn taking, eye contact, requesting, etc., through musical or art related activities.

  • Behavioral Creating songs and musical stories about appropriate behavior

 

Our Teachers understand that hands on learning is integral and that every child develops differently. That emotional immaturity and lack of skills can mask a highly intelligent child.  Special learners have particular communication habits, therefore, labels are overlooked when creating instructions. Teaching is done in a relaxed atmosphere, with patient teachers.
